Please Make This War End
A small plea from an Indonesian.
I’m not really into politics. In fact, I’ve been avoiding those topics all the time as I know the news would be something disturbing or make me think of it too much.
Yes, people were dying in Ukraine and the Russian conflict. I’ve seen on Youtube news where families were separated to flee and cities destroyed, it was devastating to watch that I couldn’t continue following the news as it made me feel so depressed.
And it’s also why I’ve also been avoiding the news and just pray that when I read the headline of the newspaper tomorrow, it’ll say something like “War Ended!” One can hope and pray.
I’m glad there are countries opening homes for Ukraine refugees and many people have voiced to end this war. But I pray most of all is that this war will end soon and that peace can be reached.
The reason I’m ranting a lot more now is that I’ve been hating all the inflation coming up as of late. Gas prices have been on the rise, cooking oils have been hard to find, and everything seems to be just rising. It’s really frustrating and it’s so surprising to me.
Someone told me that LA has reached the I Am Legend gas price. I suppose you can call that dark humour. We’ve been more careful with our spending as well, and my company’s budget has been disrupted.
I never thought that this war would affect the economy of my country so much. We are literally so far away from the war and yet it’s affecting us, and every other countries in the world.
I don’t know how and what the leaders of both countries plan to do for this war, but I do hope and pray that they can agree on something to stop this war. I pray and hope for the safety of the people caught in the war. I pray and hope that both countries would find a common ground, and we can reach a more peaceful approach. And ultimately, end this war.
For the people in both countries, and for us all.
