Encouraging Others With Joys & Smiles
The internet had been talking a lot about Greta Thunberg and how she is so brave to speak up about climate change. If that’s the case, I want to share about someone, who has been protecting wildlife at a very young age and continuing his father’s footsteps along with his sister and mother. Fifteen-year-old, Robert Irwin has been coming up on TV and spreads his joy and fun hanging around with wild animals.
Steve Irwin may not be in this world anymore, but that doesn’t mean his work ends with him. His family has been continuing his legacy until now, educating people about wildlife and why we must protect them. Robert has made a lot of appearances, spreading joy and positivity all the time. Take note as well, that the internet has not trolled him as much as Greta received. Why?
In this article, I want to break down what made Robert Irwin so likable to watch for his age as he appeared on TV as he promotes his TV Show, Crikey It’s The Irwins.
Note: I am going to use one video from the Jimmy Fallon’s tonight show to demonstrate Robert Irwin’s likable character because he managed to get Kevin Hart, who is afraid of his animals, to have a fun time.
1) He is always energetic
In pretty much every scenes he is in, he is always up-beat and ready to present. This is the very definition of working for your passion, he puts up a big smile every time he was asked something in any interviews and isn’t shy or embarrassed to say how happy he is being in there and doing what he love.
Here is an example of his energetic side. Jimmy asked what animals he brought to the show, most people would answer such as ‘I brought this and that’, but not Robert. His response was “We’ve got some really good ones”, these phrases are enough to spark enthusiasm to, not only him, but everyone in the room and made the audience curious to what he brought to the show, leading to my next point.
2) Not ashamed to tell his interest to others
This is similar to when you showed an interest you have to others and you enthusiastically tell them how amazing it is. Robert showed everyone his love for animals, he always hold animals with great care. I understand that he is an animal expert and he knows how to hold one, but he knows how to establish trust between animals. This showed that Robert knows his stuff very well, he knows how to make the animals comfortable when people are touching it and handled them with care.
Because he loves his animal, it’s no doubt that he did a lot of research in great detail about it. When you love something, you would go through the deepest parts of the internet to search for more information, leading to my next point.
3) Knowledgeable about the things he loves
Not only did he showed his affection to the animals, but he also showed everyone how much he loves animals by being very detailed about it. Take like my example, I love movies and I want to show people how you can learn something from them, so I watched the movies and did my research, you can check out my profile to see more of my articles about the movie characters.
Same with Robert. He knows and learn every detail of the animals, from their behaviors, anatomies, height, and weight. Now, most people wouldn’t think that far to know about animals, but because Robert loves animals, he went through great details about them. And because of that, he fell more in love with his passion for animals and every time he learns something new about an animal, he would find them very fascinating, leading to my next point.
4) Always uplifting others
The love of something makes you appreciate the positive even more. Sure they have negative sides, but that won’t stop you from liking them. For Robert, he is always uplifting others, always seeing the bright side of them. So far, he had never talked down about people and always see the positive sides of people, in this case, the dangerous animals he brought to the show.
Like Steve Irwin himself, Robert knew how dangerous some animals are, yet he still took the risk and love them all the same.
When Robert introduced his tarantula, Big Red, and everyone was terrified. Despite that the spider is being despised, Robert kept on saying that she is a wonderful animal and kept encouraging Jimmy and Kevin to try and hold the spider. This is the very definition of ‘seeing beauty in others’.
When you do this, you will find people will be more attracted to hang around you because you are always making them feel safe. Just like Robert, he is always on the Jimmy Fallon’s tonight show, and making Jimmy feel comfortable whenever he brought dangerous animals in the show. He did it with a lot of joy, telling him that he did a great job handling the animals and always happy about it, leading to my last point.
5) Be happy!!
And of course, don’t ever forget to smile and laugh! People are attracted to others who spreads joy and happiness, and one of the most obvious ones is smiling. Plus, smiling is contagious, so even if you are not a comedian but you want others to be happy with you, this is what you do. Smile!
Robert is always joyful in nearly every picture that he is in. It’s rare to find him not showing his teeth and always positive. With all the things I mentioned, this is how you put up a happy face. Because you always give a positive atmosphere.
The Take
Robert and his family successfully fulfilled what his father fought for and recently they finally managed to open an elephant hospital in Sumatra. They spread the joy about animals and that attracted people to come to their zoo, it’s like a salesperson, you would want someone selling to you to be a happy and enthusiastic person right? So what you can take here is:
- Be energetic
- Show your interest to others
- Knowledgeable about the things you like
- Always uplifting others
- Be happy
