6 Things Wolves Can Teach Us — Twilight
I have never watched the Twilight series, I only watched the wolf scenes on youtube because they are far more interesting and relatable to us than the vampires. I must give the directors and writers credit for understanding wolf behaviors very well. They indirectly teach us something that we can follow.
We can learn from wolves as well. Even when they are shapeshifters, the humans of the wolf pack still have wolf instincts as well. In this post, I want to break down what we can learn from the wolf packs of Twilight.
Note: 1) Obviously, there are more things we can learn from wolves, but it’ll be easier to relate with movies so I’ll stick with the ones I picked up from the movie.
2) The wolves in Twilight only appear when danger comes, so this will focus on the wide perspective of the wolf pack when they did not change into one as well.
1) Respect the Alpha
When the Alpha says go, GO! Not before, not later. When he says the command, follow it.
In the movie, Sam is the Alpha. The pack respects and obeyed him because the pack must have a leader, and he is the one. If he weren’t the alpha, the rest of the wolves would probably go immediately after the vampire. But to the wolves, the rules of the wolves are important. Wait until the Alpha commands it, so the hierarchy is important, and necessary in order to achieve the top results among each other.
Therefore, listen to the Alpha. They are doing all they can for the pack, as long as all of you are willing to hear him out and work together for it, you will get the results, leading to my next point.
2) Teamwork is important
Notice how every time the wolf is after a vampire, and yet the whole pack of wolves went after it. This happened a lot in the movie, they will always chase after vampires in packs, never alone. This is because they find that together is better, for they give a better result.
So what you can learn here is: value your team. They are important to help you achieve certain goals, for you are a pack. Therefore, guard each other well.
3) Take care of one another no matter what
No matter the threats each is handling, make sure that they can handle it. Don’t wait until things go bad and then you jump in to help. This way, you show them that you care for one another.
There is a scene where Jacob was in time to assist Leah from being killed by a vampire. Had he not jump at the moment she was able to handle the vampire for a while, the white wolf will never survive.
4) Communication is very important
This is also one of the reasons why wolves make a lot of noise. Snarls, growls, howls, etc. That way they can understand each other, especially when hunting.
We see a lot of movies where wolves have a huge meeting, such as The Jungle Book, and Mowgli where the wolves always have a meeting with one another. For wolves, it is so that understanding with each other is clear.
In the case of Twilight, even if they never had the dialogues, you know their intention was to kill something based on their expressions above.
Therefore, be sure you communicate well with your team to clear things up. Make sure they TOTALLY get what you mean. Show them that you mean well, leading to my next point.
5) Have fun with one another
Wolves are very good at finding entertainment with each other. They would playfully bite or chase after each other to have fun, nothing serious going on.
Same here, I’ve watched a few scenes of the vampires and wolves. I found that the wolf packs were more goofballs and close compared to the vampires.
There is also a scene where one of the pack members above was eating in front of Bella when they first introduced her. Now, it’s rude to just continue eating when you first meet someone. Not to them, they saw Jacob coming in with Bella. For the wolves, any friend of their teammates is a friend all the same.
In the midst of stress, don’t let it cloud you. Have fun with one another and diffuse any tensions, that way you will bond easily.
6) Rest
From most of the scenes I watched in Twilight, I haven’t found one that shows the vampires actually resting. Which for us, is not good. The wolf packs take as much rest as possible because they need all the strength they have for the next day.
So for us, rest is the most important thing for us. No matter how busy you are, be sure to recharge yourself in order to do better the next day.
So there you have it
Whoever thought we can learn something from these creatures. To summarize:
- Respect the Alpha
- Teamwork is important
- Take care of one another no matter what
- Communication is very important
- Have fun with one another
- Rest
And there you have it. I hope you learn something from here and thank you for reading :)
